Bed and Breakfast Business
We moved to the Dordogne to open a Bed and Breakfast (Chambres d'Hotes), which would help support us as a family. We initially opened in the summer of 2008, which was a slow summer as we had just opened and we needed to advertise to get the business known in the local area and the usual sources of the internet (Google, etc). Therefore, the initial summer was slow, however, after speaking with similar business people, they too advised us that 2008 was not a good year for all concerned.
2009 has been much improved, with our B&B being much busier this year. This has been helped immensley with our local affiliation with two local Chateau's who recommend us as additional accommondation for their wedding receptions.
We also get a lot of business from the local tourist information office, 30 € per annum for them to recommend us and we are also in the local brochure. This is money well spent as this is usually repaid within days.

The business website will be transferred to the new owner if they wish to continue the business side, or will be shut down upon request if the house is bought as a family home or other concern at no extra cost.
We initially opened the business with 3 guest rooms and the plan was to convert Bedroom 4 this winter and have 4 guest rooms in total. This can still be completed at minimal cost as all the facilities are in place, should the new proprieter wish to continue.
